Overview
The Kenwood KAC-M1814 is a compact digital 4-channel amplifier from Kenwood’s marine and motorsports range. It is CTA-2006 rated at 45 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms, can be bridged to 90 watts x 2, and has high- and low-pass filters on both channel pairs. The KAC-M1814 is built to fit where a full-size amplifier will not, at 5-11/16 x 1-3/4 x 3-7/8 inches and 1.5 pounds. Kenwood rates it at 45 watts x 4 RMS, 90 watts x 2 bridged at 4 ohms, and 400 watts maximum. Its CTA-2006 rating is 45 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms with 1% THD or less and 82 dBA signal-to-noise. Frequency response runs from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and the standard signal-to-noise ratio is 98 dB.
Filters and inputs
Channels A and B each have a filter switch for high-pass, low-pass or off, with the cutoff adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz at 12 dB per octave. Input sensitivity adjusts from 0.2 to 5 volts for RCA sources. For a factory radio without RCA outputs, the supplied RCA cable can be cut and wired to the radio’s speaker outputs, and signal-sensing turn-on means no separate power control wire is needed.
What comes with it
The amp ships with a 1.5 m DC power cable, two 1 m RCA cables, wire bands, two protective covers and mounting screws. A single 15 A fuse protects the circuit, and speaker impedance can be 2 ohms or more in stereo or 4 ohms or more when bridged. Kenwood lists it in its marine and motorsports range, but the manual advises mounting it where it will stay dry.

Important notes
- Power wiring from the battery, an inline fuse and speaker wire may still be needed depending on the install.
- Kenwood's manual says to avoid mounting it where it can get wet, so choose a dry, protected spot.
- The amplifier draws up to 15 A and uses one 15 A fuse.
