PEI balanced-dome tweeters

Each KFC-ST01 tweeter uses a 13/16-inch (2.5 cm) PEI balanced-dome diaphragm. Kenwood lists them as component tweeters for car audio, so they can add or replace high-frequency drivers in a component or multi-way install. The PEI dome is the radiating surface you hear for the top end of the range.

Power and response

Kenwood rates each tweeter at 40 watts rated input and 160 watts peak at 4 ohms. Sensitivity is 90 dB at 1 watt/1 meter, and frequency response runs from 5 kHz to 25 kHz. Gross weight for the pair is 0.14 lb; Japan’s specification page lists about 0.064 kg per tweeter. Keep continuous drive well below peak power so the dome stays clean.

Size and mounting

Overall dimensions are 47 mm wide by 47 mm high by 27.9 mm deep. Kenwood includes a 2-meter cord and brackets with the pair. Check clearance at the mounting location and plan a crossover that keeps midrange energy out of these tweeters. A network is not listed on the USA product page, so use a suitable external crossover or the high-pass section of a component system. Confirm mounting depth and baffle clearance before you cut or drill any panels.
