The Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X135 is a pair of 5-1/4-inch 2-way car speakers. An oversized 130 mm injection-molded polypropylene woofer cone with adjusted material for higher rigidity works with a 1-inch soft dome tweeter. They handle 40 watts RMS (CTA-2031) and 160 watts peak at 4 ohms, with 86 dB sensitivity and a 71 Hz to 21 kHz response. Grilles and mounting hardware are included.

Stiffer woofer cone
Kenwood adjusted the composition of the materials in the KFC-X135 woofer cone to increase diaphragm rigidity for accurate sound. The oversized 130 mm (5-1/4-inch) woofer uses an injection-molded polypropylene cone with a rubber surround, a steel basket and a ferrite magnet.
1-inch soft dome tweeter
A 1-inch (25 mm) soft dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet sits at the center of each woofer. Kenwood says it widens the sound field and controls interference, giving rich vocal sound in front through the 5-1/4-inch speaker. Tweeter height is 9/16 inch (14 mm).
Power and fit
Each speaker handles 40 watts RMS (CTA-2031) and 160 watts peak at 4 ohms. Sensitivity is 86 dB at 1 watt/1 meter, and frequency response runs from 71 Hz to 21 kHz. The cutout diameter is 4-3/4 inches (120 mm) and the mounting depth is 2-3/8 inches (60 mm). With the grille fitted, each speaker measures 6-5/16 x 6-5/16 x 3-3/16 inches; without it, 5-3/16 x 5-3/16 x 2-15/16 inches.
Included hardware
Kenwood includes two grilles, eight 4 x 25 mm binding head tapping screws, eight speed nuts, a 0.3 m speaker cord set and adhesive tape. Before you install, check the 2-3/8-inch mounting depth and the 4-3/4-inch cutout against the speaker location in your vehicle.
