The Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X3C is a 3-1/2-inch 2-way custom fit speaker made to replace factory dash speakers in select Chrysler, Dodge and Toyota vehicles. It combines a polypropylene cone woofer with a 1-inch silk balanced dome tweeter and a Sound Field Enhancer shape. It handles 50 watts RMS and 120 watts peak at 4 ohms, with 83 dB sensitivity and an 800 Hz to 23 kHz response. In-line crossover networks are included.

Custom fit dash replacement
Kenwood designed the eXcelon KFC-X3C as a vehicle-specific replacement for factory 3-1/2-inch dash speakers. Kenwood’s supported vehicle chart lists the Chrysler 200 (2015-2017) and 300 (2011 and later), the Dodge Avenger (2008-2014), RAM (2010 and later), Caravan (2008 and later), Challenger (2008 and later), Charger (2006 and later) and Journey (2009 and later), and the Toyota Camry (2011 and later).
Two-way design with silk tweeter
Each speaker uses a 3-1/2-inch polypropylene cone woofer with a rubber surround, a steel basket and a ferrite magnet. A 1-inch silk balanced dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet reproduces natural sounds with accurate, smooth high-frequency response, according to Kenwood. The Sound Field Enhancer shape widens the sound field and controls interference for rich, direct sound.
Power and fit
The KFC-X3C handles 50 watts RMS (CTA) and 120 watts peak at 4 ohms. Sensitivity is 83 dB and frequency response runs from 800 Hz to 23 kHz. The cutout diameter is 3 inches (75.5 mm), the mounting depth is 1-7/16 inches (36 mm), and the speaker sits 5/16 inch (8 mm) above the mounting surface. Overall width is 4-7/16 inches (113 mm) and height is 3-7/16 inches (87 mm).
Crossover and installation
Two in-line crossover networks are included. They work as a -6 dB per octave high-pass filter at 850 Hz, and Kenwood’s manual states that the power rating requires the attached network. A cushion set is also included, and the manual shows the speakers mounted with the screws supplied with the vehicle.
