Hi-Res certified 7-inch component system

The XR-1801P is a complete 2-way set: two 7-inch woofers, two tweeters and two external crossover networks. Each woofer uses a glass fiber cone with a rubber surround and a ferrite magnet. Kenwood rates the system from 35 Hz to 40 kHz (-10 dB), or 52 Hz to 35 kHz at -3 dB, with 87 dB sensitivity, and the set carries High-Resolution Audio certification.

Titanium dome tweeters with flexible mounting

The 1-3/16-inch (30 mm) titanium dome tweeters use neodymium magnets. You can flush mount them in a 1-13/16-inch (45.5 mm) cutout or use the supplied brackets for angled mounting, which lets you aim them toward the listening position.

Bi-amp ready crossover networks

Each side has its own network box with 12 dB per octave high-pass and low-pass filters. The tweeter level can be set to 0 or -3 dB by choosing the terminal connection, and a polyswitch helps protect the tweeter from overload. Separate inputs allow bi-amping, so you can drive the woofers and tweeters from different amplifier channels.

Fitting the woofers

The woofer frame is 7-5/8 inches (193.5 mm) across and needs a 6-inch (152.5 mm) cutout with 2-7/16 inches (62 mm) of mounting depth. It sits 15/16 inch above the mounting surface with the grille fitted. Multi-fit brackets and 6×9-inch adapter brackets come in the box. Speaker wire is not supplied; Kenwood recommends 12 to 22 AWG cable. Kenwood backs eXcelon Reference products with a 2-year warranty.

• Speaker wire is not supplied. Kenwood recommends 12 to 22 AWG speaker cable.
• Nominal impedance is 3 ohms. Check that your amplifier or receiver is rated to drive a 3-ohm load.
• Woofers need a 6-inch cutout and 2-7/16 inches of mounting depth; flush-mounted tweeters need a 1-13/16-inch cutout.
• Bi-amping needs separate amplifier channels for the woofers and tweeters. Amplifiers are sold separately.
