Overview
The Kenwood eXcelon Reference DMX1058XR is a digital multimedia receiver with a floating 10.1-inch HD capacitive touchscreen that fits a single-DIN dash opening. It runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly or over USB, streams Hi-Res Audio Wireless with LDAC, and adds built-in HD Radio, four camera inputs, a digital optical output and three 5-volt preouts. It is a mechless unit, so it does not play discs.

Floating 10.1-inch HD display
The DMX1058XR mounts in a single-DIN opening and holds a 10.1-inch HD (1280 x 720) capacitive touchscreen in front of the dash. The optically bonded panel cuts reflections and offers viewing angles up to 170 degrees. Kenwood’s 4-way adjustment sets depth in 2 steps, height in 4 steps, left and right position in 3 steps, and tilt from -10 to +45 degrees. The home screen can show driving widgets, and a Pitch and Roll screen uses the built-in gyro.
Wireless smartphone connections
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly over dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi or over USB, with split-screen views. Select smartphones can mirror wirelessly, and HDMI mirroring is available with the KCA-HD200 cable, sold separately. Bluetooth 5.2 supports SBC, AAC and LDAC for Hi-Res Audio Wireless, and the USB Type-C port charges at up to 3.0 amps. The KENWOOD Portal app adds more features from your phone.
Sound tuning and expansion
A 14-point parametric EQ, a 13-band EQ and digital time alignment let you tune the sound, and a digital optical output (up to 96 kHz/24-bit) feeds an external processor. Three 5-volt preouts connect amplifiers. Four camera inputs accept HD front and rear cameras such as the CMOS-740HD, and Dash Cam Link works with the DRV-N520 (both sold separately). The receiver is iDatalink Maestro RR and RR2 compatible, has built-in HD Radio, and is SiriusXM Ready and SiriusXM 360L Ready.

- SiriusXM needs a tuner and subscription; SiriusXM 360L also needs a Wi-Fi connection.
- Wireless mirroring works with select smartphones only. This receiver does not play CDs or DVDs.
