CarPlay, Android Auto and USB mirroring

Connect your phone to the DMX4710S with a USB cable to run Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on the 6.8-inch screen, including maps, calls, messages and music apps. Android Auto needs a compatible phone and an active data plan. With the MirrorAPP+ app, select iPhone and Android phones can also mirror their screen over USB, and Kenwood notes that touch control works from both the receiver and the phone. Built-in Bluetooth 5.0 with a built-in microphone handles hands-free calls and audio streaming.

Screen and sound

The WSVGA (1024 x 600) capacitive touch panel has LED backlighting and roughly 1.6 times the resolution of a standard WVGA screen. The USB port charges compatible phones at up to 2.1 amps and plays MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC and FLAC audio plus MPEG, H.264, MKV and WMV video through a 24-bit DAC. A 13-band graphic EQ, digital time alignment and adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters from 30 to 250 Hz help you dial in the sound.

Expansion and vehicle integration

Two 2.5-volt preouts and a subwoofer output are ready for external amplifiers, and the rear camera input adds adjustable parking guidelines to an optional backup camera. With an iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 module, sold separately, Kenwood says you can retain factory steering wheel controls, a factory amplifier and secondary displays, and view vehicle information on compatible vehicles. The unit is SiriusXM Ready (tuner sold separately) and works with the optional KCA-RCDV340 remote.

Installation

The short chassis needs an installation space of 7-3/16 x 4-7/16 x 3-3/8 inches (182 x 112 x 86 mm), and the unit weighs 2.31 lb. It fits a double-DIN opening, and the manual also covers a single-DIN install by removing the side brackets. A wiring harness, GPS antenna, parking extension cable and screws are included; a dash kit and harness adapter for your vehicle are not.

• Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and mirroring on this model use a wired USB connection. It does not support wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
• A vehicle-specific dash kit, wiring harness adapter and antenna adapter may be needed for your vehicle and are not included.
• USB mirroring works only with select iPhone and Android phones running the MirrorAPP+ app.
• The iDatalink Maestro RR/RR2 module, SiriusXM tuner and subscription, backup camera and KCA-RCDV340 remote are sold separately.
• This is a mechless digital multimedia receiver. It does not play CDs or DVDs.
