Overview
The Kenwood eXcelon X803-5 is a compact Class D 5-channel car amplifier that powers four speakers and a subwoofer from one chassis. Five channels of power
The X803-5 runs four speaker channels and a subwoofer channel from one Class D amplifier. Kenwood rates it at 50 watts x 4 plus 300 watts x 1 RMS at 4 ohms, 75 watts x 4 plus 500 watts x 1 at 2 ohms, or 150 watts x 2 bridged plus 300 watts, with 1,600 watts maximum. Its CTA-2006-D rating is 50 watts x 4 plus 300 watts x 1 at 4 ohms. Frequency response reaches 20 Hz to 50 kHz, and the amp is Hi-Res Audio certified.
Tuning controls
Channels A and B each have a variable high-pass filter from 50 to 200 Hz at 12 dB per octave, and the subwoofer channel has a variable low-pass filter from 50 to 200 Hz at 24 dB per octave. A bass boost adds 0 to 18 dB at 40 Hz. Input sensitivity adjusts from 0.2 to 5.0 volts for RCA inputs and 4 to 12 volts for speaker-level inputs, and the included wired remote sets the subwoofer level from the driver’s seat.
Built for easy installs
All power, speaker and input connections sit on one side, which keeps wiring tidy. A speaker-level input harness and signal-sensing turn-on let the amp work with a factory radio that has no RCA outputs. Set-screw terminals take 4 to 6 gauge power wire and 8 to 16 gauge speaker wire, three 30 A fuses protect the circuit, and a terminal cover is included. The output coil has a magnetic shield, and PMLCAP capacitors are used. It measures 9-3/4 x 2-1/16 x 6-5/8 inches.
