Sound Field Enhancer design
Kenwood builds the KFC-C6866S with its Sound Field Enhancer to improve sound quality and an enlarged magnet circuit for clear sound. The 6×8-inch (145 x 204 mm) woofer uses a silver polypropylene cone with a cloth surround and a 220 g ferrite magnet, and a 1-inch (25 mm) PEI balanced dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet handles the highs.
Power and response
Each speaker handles 30 watts RMS and 250 watts peak at 4 ohms. Sensitivity is 90 dB at 1 watt/1 meter, and frequency response runs from 40 Hz to 22 kHz.
Fit
Kenwood lists only 5/16 inch (8 mm) of mounting height, measured as tweeter height, to fit a wider selection of cars. The cutout is 5-1/16 x 7-3/8 inches (129 x 187 mm). Kenwood’s spec table lists a mounting depth of 2-3/8 inches (60 mm); its feature list says 2-5/16 inches, so allow 2-3/8 inches. Each speaker measures 8 x 5-11/16 inches and weighs about 1.5 lb.
Included hardware
Kenwood includes eight 4 x 25 mm tapping screws and two 0.3 m speaker cords. Grilles are not in Kenwood’s accessory list. Before you install, check the cutout and mounting depth against the speaker location in your vehicle.
