Overview
The Kenwood eXcelon KMM-X705 is a single-DIN digital media receiver with a built-in HD Radio tuner, Bluetooth and Amazon Alexa support through the Alexa app on your phone. Front and rear USB ports play FLAC files up to 96 kHz/24-bit, and three 5-volt preouts give amplifiers a strong, clean signal. A 13-band EQ with time alignment, variable color illumination and SiriusXM readiness round it out. It is a mechless, short-chassis unit with no CD drive.

HD Radio, Bluetooth and Alexa
The KMM-X705 has a built-in HD Radio tuner for digital FM and AM broadcasts where available. Bluetooth 4.2 handles hands-free calls and audio streaming, with dual phone connection and Music Mix for up to five paired devices. It is Amazon Alexa Ready: with the Alexa app on your iPhone or Android phone paired to the receiver, you can ask Alexa for music, news and more. The free Kenwood Remote app controls sources and sound settings from your phone.
Two USB ports and SiriusXM
Dual USB inputs, one on the front and one at the rear, play FLAC files up to 96 kHz/24-bit as well as MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV, and the rear port is handy for a permanently routed cable. A front AUX input is also available. Add a SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner and subscription, sold separately, for satellite radio.
Built for bigger systems
As an eXcelon model, the KMM-X705 provides three 5-volt preouts for front, rear and subwoofer amplifiers; the higher output voltage helps keep the signal clean on its way to the amps. A 13-band EQ, digital time alignment and Drive EQ shape the sound, and the built-in amplifier is rated at 50 watts x 4 maximum and 22 watts x 4 full bandwidth.
Display and installation
The 255-segment, 1.5-line display has variable color illumination and English, Spanish or French text. The short chassis is 3-15/16 inches (100 mm) deep and the unit weighs 1.5 lb. Mounting screws come in the box along with the sleeve and harness, and the optional KCA-RCDV340 remote adds wireless control.
