The P1683 is Rockford Fosgate’s Punch 6-by-8-inch three-way full-range speaker for oval factory locations that a round coax cannot fill. Power handling is 65 watts RMS / 130 watts max into 4 ohms. Frequency response is 65 Hz to 24 kHz with 90 dB sensitivity (1 W/1 m). Midrange mounting depth is 2.28 inches. A 0.75-inch PEI dome tweeter and an additional midrange element share the axis with the woofer so you get more treble energy without buying a separate component set.
Oval openings and adapters
OEM adapter plates help when the sheet metal is closer to a 5×7 or 6×9 cutout than a pure 6×8 oval. FlexFit slotted baskets settle the oval frame into openings that are not perfectly punched. Mineral-filled polypropylene cones and butyl rubber surrounds are the Punch mechanical set for heat and humidity in doors. The tweeter’s built-in high-pass crossover means there are no external network boxes to hide behind the panel.
